Recommendations for health training with a focus on diversity
Abstract
The context of globalization and the progressive recognition of diversity in our society impose additional challenges to the already changing scenario of training for health professionals, incorporating competencies to address the diversity of issues faced by the population using health services. Consequently, this paper presents the results of the qualitative phase of a study conducted in health careers at the University of Chile, which describes the training in care for users of diversity groups, from the perception of students and graduates of these careers. The qualitative phase of the research consisted of a descriptive/exploratory design, and a data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews and focus groups. A thematic content analysis was conducted using Nvivo™ software around predefined categories. The results interpret the experience of the group of participants, based on these, recommendations are proposed for health education with a focus on intersectionality.
