Background
Abstract
José Antonio Quinteiro Goris, program coordinator of UNESCO IESALC, outlines the background of the journal including an overall balance of the 30 years of existence and presence in institutes and entities associated with higher education, highlighting, without implying a bibliometric approach, quantifiable evaluations of assessment. Among it mentions a gender imbalance in the number of authors/co-authors who have contributed to the ESS throughout these years "Thus, we find that the ESS collection is the product of the scientific contributions of 193 male authors/co-authors and 164 female authors/co-authors. However, considering that 'only 28% of the world's female researchers are women' (UNESCO, 2018), these figures disaggregated by sex, although they do not achieve gender parity stricto sensu, are acceptable under the above reference".
