Abstract

This article will focus on three important UNESCO documents with a view to the future of Higher Education by the year 2050: Pathways to 2050 and beyond, Reimagining our future together, a new social contract for education and Thinking beyond limits. Based on each one of them a common concern will emerge: the construction of a democratic citizenship during great challenges and social changes. The task of the University as a Higher Education Institution (HEI) is to refound its humanistic purpose to face the big global challenges, and guarantee individual and collective well-being, priority tasks of Education for our world. Added to this is the value of the emotional education as a constitution of our humanity and societies.
