Emparelhamento desigual no ensino terciário? Determinantes da descoordenação nas universidades chilenas

Resumo

Este estudo procura identificar e quantificar a existência de assimetrias de desencontro entre as aptidões dos estudantes e a selectividade ou rentabilidade do programa de ensino superior em que são admitidos. Controlando para os antecedentes socioeconómicos e académicos dos estudantes, foi estimada a magnitude da diferença de correspondência entre os grupos de interesse identificados como relevantes pela literatura. Em seguida, foram estudados os potenciais determinantes das lacunas evidenciadas, tais como distância geográfica, área de estudo, tipo de financiamento e relevância do ensino secundário. Os resultados mostram que estudantes e mulheres vulneráveis acabam sistematicamente por aceder a carreiras menos selectivas e/ou com rendimentos económicos mais baixos, ceteris paribus. Verificou-se que os factores mais relevantes para explicar as lacunas de correspondência são o estabelecimento de ensino secundário, o campo de estudo escolhido pelo aluno e o tipo de financiamento utilizado para pagar o diploma. Os resultados sublinham a importância de gerar campanhas de divulgação de informação para estudantes vulneráveis e femininas.
