The construction of the field of research on higher education in Uruguay: policy challenges and research
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to explore the gradual emergence of a research field of higher education in Uruguay between 1990 and 2020. Among the objectives are to describe the configuration of this process, in relation to public policies for the sector and its regulatory aspects, as well as characterizing the main actors and the development of the field. The work is supported by academic databases, documentary analysis, literature review and interviews with qualified informants. Its institutionalization is expressed in institutional and disciplinary factors. This field of research appears still in the process of consolidation, promoted both by challenges of public policies at the local level, as well as by regional and external processes.
