La ciudadanía global, un concepto emergente y polémico
Abstract
La noción de ciudadanía global es una categoría fundamental en el marco conceptual de la internacionalización de la educación superior. Su contenido se ha investigado desde hace dos décadas sin llegar, hasta ahora, a una versión unificada -debido a la complejidad de su problemática-. Ha dado origen a una diversidad de enfoques teóricos e interpretaciones, lo que, a su vez, ha promovido controversias que han ido clarificado esta noción paulatinamente. En la primera parte del artículo se aborda el concepto sólo en su significado educativo, tal y como ha sido desarrollado recientemente por la UNESCO, bajo el rubro de Educación para la Ciudadanía Global (GCE). En la segunda, se compara y contrasta este proyecto con otras propuestas teóricas alternativas. Finalmente, se discute la crítica radical al concepto de ciudadanía global hecha recientemente por algunos autores.
