Implementación de “Campus Sostenible”: prácticas ambientales positivas en una universidad de Colombia
Abstract
Universities in the last decade have not only been demonstrating their commitment to the protection of the environment, and of all nature, but also with their contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by developing actions aimed at that purpose. Thus, this article presents the experience of the universidad Autónoma de Occidente (Autonomous university of the West) (UAO), an institution in which in addition to carrying out the substantive functions of teaching, research and social projection, and training highly qualified professionals in different fields of knowledge, has been committed to the present and future of the planet in the perspective of educating more critical, sensitive and responsible people capable of understanding and formulating viable solutions to the structural social and environmental problems of the environment, the region and the planet, our "Common House ”. in recent years, the uAo proposed to carry out the institutional Environmental Policy, the Environmental Management System and the staging of the Sustainable Campus Program, actions that have led it to occupy the 42nd position worldwide in the ui greenMetric ranking. in this opportunity, this study focuses on the analysis of the Sustainable Campus Program, the description of its 9 components and its development phases.
