Abstract

Latin America and the Caribbean has been the scene of significant social transformations in several dimensions, but major structural vulnerabilities still prevail, such as the phenomena of poverty and inequality, showing trends that call for even more energetic efforts to eradicate and reduce them, in accordance with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. Faced with the reality of the cultural and social diversity of students as evidence of social transformation, the commitments and challenges of inclusion and quality in higher education are introduced, where responses of increased participation and reduction of exclusion in and from education are demanded, as well as the realization of innovative educational management processes. It is in these areas that the UNESCO-IESALC journal Higher Education and Society (ESS) contributes with research results that may eventually become evidence for the formulation of public policies that support the consolidation of the social transformations achieved, while at the same time outlining paths for further research.
