Abstract

La Conferencia Mundial sobre la Educación Superior, organizada por la

UNESCO en Paris, entre el 5 y el 9 de octubre de 1999, constituyó el evento más importante relacionado con la educación superior de este siglo. Esa Conferencia fue la integración y síntesis de un conjunto de reflexiones y acciones iniciadas en el año de 1991, que dio lugar primero a una serie de reuniones regionales, programas, proyectos y actividades y luego a conferencias regionales, que se efectuaron entre 1996 y 1998, en todas las regiones del mundo, como eventos preparatorios de la Conferencia Mundial y orientadas a promover una transformación de la educación superior, de cara a las exigencias de la sociedad del Siglo XXI. Toda transformación de la educación superior habrá de tener en cuenta a sus actores principales y sus principales procesos.
